“There is no habitation of human beings in this world so fine in its way... as this, the capital of Scotland” Andrew Carnegie |

Edinburgh, known in the 19th century as the Athens of the North, has it all – wonderful architecture, an unequalled artistic tradition and stunning views. It is the stunning capital city of Scotland and is one of the most visited and best loved cities in Europe.
Edinburgh was one of the centres of the Enlightenment and continues to be one of the Worlds great cultural hubs. Each August, the city's population doubles in size as the Edinburgh Festival takes place – the largest arts festival anywhere in the world. This comprises the Edinburgh International Festival, The Edinburgh Book Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe, The Edinburgh Military Tattoo and The Edinburgh International Film Festival.

“Edinburgh, in my estimation the most beautiful city in Britain” HRH Prince Charles |
Each New Year, Edinburgh hosts the World's biggest Hogmanay Party!
Not only is Edinburgh the world's festival city, it is also one of its most beautiful. In 1995, UNESCO listed The Old Town and New Town districts as World Heritage Sites and Edinburgh was recently listed as the first UNESCO City of Literature. In 2006, Edinburgh was named the favourite UK City by the Guardian Travel Awards for a seventh consecutive year.
Edinburgh is home to writers such as Alexander McCall Smith, Ian Rankin and JK Rowling and has given the world Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson.

“This profusions of eccentricities, this dream in masonry and living rock is not a drop scene in a theatre, but a city in the world of reality” Robert Louis Stevenson |
The city features many world class attractions. Perhaps the most famous is Edinburgh Castle, which dominates the city's skyline but the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Roslyn Chapel and the splendid New Town are all well worth seeing.
For those who prefer more modern architecture, both the Enric Miralles designed Scottish Parliament and Our Dynamic Earth are interesting sites.
Edinburgh has excellent transport links to the other major Scottish cities – Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen and it is a short drive to the world-famous Forth Rail Bridge or into the beautiful countryside of the Scottish Borders. It also has excellent rail, road and air links with London.
